Based in West London the 600 accredited consultants, mainly drawn from London teaching hospitals, cover over 70 specialties. Cromwell’s main specialties include Oncology, Neurosciences and other surgical services, Family Medicine and Paediatrics and Diagnostics.

Bupa Cromwell Hospital which was purpose built opened in 1981 offers outstanding health care facilities for around 130 inpatients. The extensive outpatient facilities include private General Practitioners who offer primary care, health screening and walk-in family medicine services.

STAFF BENEFITS AND FACILITIES
Permanent staff joining the Hospital will undergo a probationary period, which will normally be six months. All staff have an appraisal after three months and then, after completion of the probationary period, your Supervisor or Manager will appraise you to become a permanent member of staff. These appraisals provide you with an opportunity to assess your own performance and discuss this with your Supervisor.
Benefits not subject to completion of Probationary Period Holidays
The full annual entitlement is 20 days at normal basic rate of pay in addition to Public and Statutory holidays. An additional five days entitlement is awarded to staff that possess a nationally recognised professional qualification where a qualification is a
requirement of the position. Ward based nursing staff also receive a further two statutory days.
Gym Membership
The Hospital has an arrangement with Club Kensington to use their facilities.
Membership costs £8 per month, deducted from your monthly salary.
You at Work The Hospital has linked up with ‘You at Work’ to offer a wide selection of discounted products and services ranging from insurance cover for your travel, home or car, to money off health and fitness goods and services, travel, electrical
goods and entertainment.
Shiatsu Massage
Shiatsu massage is available for staff on site every Thursday for a discounted fee.
Shiatsu is a Japanese massage that relaxes, revitalizes and promotes a sense of well
being.
Staff Restaurant
Located on the Lower Ground Floor providing hot and cold meals and sandwiches. Coffee and tea facilities are available to all staff.

personal clothing for dry cleaning.

All staff that regularly uses VDU Monitors is entitled to a maximum of £18.50 towards the costs of eyesight testing each year. The Hospital will also pay up to £39.00 towards the cost of spectacles, if the purpose of wearing spectacles is solely for computer use.
Parental Leave
One year's continuous service is required. This entitles permanent employees who have a child below the age of five to thirteen weeks' unpaid leave in respect of each child in the first five years of age. Leave taken with a previous employer
counts towards the maximum entitlement of 13 weeks.
Paternal Parental Leave (for fathers either during or after the birth of a baby) The Hospital offers two days’ paid paternity leave to fathers wishing to take leave starting when their baby is born. The two days must be taken in the first month of
the baby’s birth.
Statutory Adoption Leave
If you adopt a child you have the right to take Statutory Adoption Leave (SAL) and be paid Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP).
Time Off for Dependants
The right to time off came into effect on the 15 December 1999 and is available to all employees regardless of start dates or whether you work full-time or part-time.
This right allows you to take a reasonable amount of time off work to deal with unexpected or sudden problems affecting your dependants and to make any necessary longer-term arrangements for their care.
Sick Pay Scheme
In addition to the DSS Statutory Sick Pay Scheme, the Hospital operates a discretionary Sick Pay Scheme.
Life Assurance
The Hospital's Life Insurance Cover provides that should you die whilst employed by the Hospital, a lump sum of three times your normal Pensionable salary will be provided to your next of kin or a named beneficiary.
Compassionate Leave
Under section C13 of the Employee Handbook paid absence of up to five days’
may be allowed at the discretion of your manager in the cases of bereavement involving an immediate family member, partner or the next of kin if the employee is directly involved in the funeral arrangements. Up to one days’ paid leave may be allowed for other relatives.
Benefits available following a six-month Probationary Period
After your appraisal and subject to satisfactory performance you will be confirmed as a member of the permanent staff and become eligible for the staff benefits listed

The Hospital offers all contracted staff the chance to join the existing Stakeholder
Group Pension Plan, following a satisfactory probationary period.

Private Medical Insurance The Hospital offers a Private Medical Insurance Group Scheme, currently with BUPA. The range of benefits is equivalent to other recognised schemes. The cost of
your membership will be fully met by the Hospital. Dependants may be insured at your own cost.
Season Ticket Loan The Hospital will, at its discretion, advance an interest free loan in respect of your annual season ticket.

Bupa Cromwell Hospital is situated in Kensington on the A4 road, which is a direct route from Heathrow Airport. The Hospital is situated just inside the London Congestion Charge Zone.

Transport and Travel

The nearest Underground Stations are Earls Court and Gloucester Road (Piccadilly and District Lines). High Street Kensington (Circle and District Line) Underground Station, is the nearest for Cheniston Lodge. Bus routes are the 74 and Heathrow A1.
